De Retour d'Outre Manche + Bonne Nouvelle!

Bonjour Mon Amie!

Comme le titre indique, je suis de retour d'Outre Manche. Plus précisément du Surrey dans le sud de l'Angleterre (ou je suis née d'ailleurs..voir l'article ou je raconte mon histoire pour savoir un peu plus sur moi ici : https://bit.ly/2CfUtSv)

J'ai participé au HandMade Fair, crée et organisé par Kirstie Allsop, présentatrice à la TV anglaise et super connu..et je peux vous dire que je n'ai jamais vu un salon créatif comme ça!

Il y avait vraiment une bonne ambience de fête, et nous avons travaillé sans le sentiment de travailler! C'était très plaisant.

Ensuite le monde est arrivé! 18000 visiteurs sur 3 jours, tous dans le bon humeur et souriante! Nous nous sommes régalées et elles aussi..les stands étaient très beau et de top niveau.

Les ateliers étaient bondés, l'ambience assurée!

Il y avait même des groupes de chanteurs et une orchestre pour mettre le week-end en musique!
J'ai eu vraiment plaisir a rencontrer beaucoup de nouvelles brodeuses sympathique et de faire connaissance avec certaines déjà rencontré sur internet!

Suite à cette bonne experience je me suis laissée tentée et je me suis inscrite au très grand salon The Knitting & Stitching Show à Alexandra Palace dans trois semaines! Donc si jamais vous y aller dites le moi et venez me voir sur mon stand no N27! C'est une nouvelle aventure et vous serez bien sur à mes cotés!

Back from Blighty + Exciting News

I had a stand at the HandMade Fair, created and organised by Kirstie Allsop, who is a well known Tv presenter and known crafter. Well I've never attended such a show and met so many lovely stitchers!

The atmosphere was wonderful and we didn't feel like we were working at all! I wish everyday could be like that!

I'm ready :)

Then the public arrived! 18000 visitors over 3 days, all happy, enthusiastic and with a smile on their faces! We really enjoyed ourselves and the I think the visitors did too..the stands were very attractive and top notch quality.

The workshops were full, and a great atmosphere reigned everywhere!

There was even a couple of choirs and a band all weekend!

I was so happy to meet some lovely stitchers and meet up with some already met through the internet.. It was a great experience thanks to all!


Last Minute Exciting News!

After this great experience I contacted the Knitting and Stitching Show and reserved a stand there for the show at Alexander Palace in 3 weeks! So I would love to see you there and meet even more new stitchers on my stand no N27! 

I can't wait for this new adventure!

Tout le Monde doit Commencer quelque part...

Bonjour Mon Amie!

Si je te disais que nous sommes déjà en septembre et que la rentrée scolaire est fait , tu me croiras? Mais où est passé l'été? Je regrette que cela ne dure pas plus longtemps, pas toi?

Pour débuter cette nouvelle partie de l'année, j'ai concocté pour vous une mini-séries d'articles sur les brodeuses. Je me suis amusée à définir ce que c'était exactement une brodeuse pour essayer de nous comprendre un peu mieux!

C'est partie pour cette semaine:

Les Débuts

Comme le titre l'indique tout le monde doit commencer quelque part, et ceci est vrai dans tous les domaines de la vie, pas que pour la broderie!

Personnellement j'ai commencé a broder très jeune avec ma grand-mère maternelle ( si tu n'as pas lu mon histoire encore c'est par ici: https://bit.ly/2CfUtSv), pas de point de croix mais du canvas. J'ai encore l'ouvrage quelque part..des roses roses sur canvas noir...un peu kitsch de nos jours mais il n'y avait que ça à l'époque. Il a suffi qu'elle me montre comment réaliser un demi -point et c'était parti..j'adorais ça! 

Style de tableau avec lequel j'ai débuté!

• Et toi, tu as commencé où et comment? 
• Avec qui c'était? A l'école peut-être ou avec un membre de la famille? 
• Tu as vécu ça comment? 
• Quels sentiments cela t'évoquent en y pensant?

Après je n'ai plus fait pendant un moment mais les gestes étaient acquis et le jour ou j'ai repris c'était comme pour le vélo..on n'oublie jamais...

L'importance du Commencement

Il n'y a rien de plus sympathique, gratifiant et valorisant que de donner envie à quelqu'un de broder. Je suis fière quand une jeune femme ou adolescente me demande "c'est facile la broderie" ou "Vous pouvez me montrer comment faire?"
Sur mes salons depuis 15 ans j'ai rencontré beaucoup de brodeuses de tous les niveaux, et je pense que le fait d'initier quelqu'un à la broderie me remplit avec le plus de bonheur.

C'est quelque chose que nous, les brodeuses chevronnées, devrons enseigner, léguer , faire passer aux générations qui suivent. Encore plus maintenant, qu'il n'y a plus de cours de broderie à l'école. Il n'y a pas assez de jeunes, filles ou garçons qui brodent. Il suffit de leur montrer, de les accompagner un peu, de les encourager et la graine est plantée!

As-tu déjà montré/initié , aux jeunes de ta famille, l'art de broder?

• Comment ont-ils réagi?
• Comment tu t'es senti?
• As-tu leur est donné la passion?
• Brodent-ils toujours?

Définition d'une brodeuse Débutante

J'ai trouvé ces définitions sur internet à propos des brodeuses

• Femme réalisant des motifs sur un tissu avec du fil et une aiguille, de la broderie.
• Ouvrier, ouvrière qui effectue un travail de broderie.

Pour moi la brodeuse débutante est quelqu'un de créative et d'intéressée et elle est plutôt courageuse! C'est un long chemin la broderie avec des étapes d'évolution assez distinctes, que je partagerai avec toi tout le long de cette série d'articles.

C'est quelqu'un qui a soif d'apprendre et d'utiliser ses mains pour créer de l'art avec une aiguille.

C'est quelqu'un qui a de la chance de pouvoir accéder aux vertus apaisantes et méditatives de la broderie.
Il faut encourager les enfants et petits enfants à broder!

Everyone's Got to Start Somewhere...

Hello my friend!

If I told you that we're already in September and that back to school is done, would you believe me? But where has the summer gone? I regret that it doesn't last longer, don't you?

To start this new part of the year, I've concocted a mini-series of articles for you on embroiderers. I had fun defining what exactly an embroiderer was to try to understand us a little better!

This is part of this week:

In the Beginning

As the title suggests everyone has to start somewhere, and this is true in all areas of life, not just for embroidery!

Personally I started to embroider at a very young age with my maternal grandmother (if you haven't read my story yet it's here: https://bit.ly/2NKdXzK), not cross stitch though but canvas. I still have the stitched piece somewhere ... pink roses on black aida canvas ... a little kitsch nowadays but there was only that on offer at the time. She showed me how to stitch a half-stitch and I was away .. I loved it!

• When did you start, where and how?
• Who showed/taught you? At school maybe or with a family member?
• How did you live that experience?
• What feelings are evoked when you think about it?

After that I didn't stitch for a while, but the gestures were learnt and the day I took it back up it was like riding a bike..you just don't forget ...


The Importance of the Beginning

There is nothing more special, or rewarding than making someone want to take up embroidery. I'm proud when a young woman or teenager asks me "Is embroidery easy" or "Can you show me how?"
In my 15 years of doing shows I've met many embroiderers of all levels, and I think that initiating a beginner to embroidery fills me with the most happiness.

It's something we, seasoned embroiderers, should teach, bequeath, pass on to the next generations. Even more now, that there are no more embroidery classes at school. There are not enough young girls or boys who embroider. Just show them, accompany them a little and the seed is planted!

Have you already shown/initiated the young people of your family, in the art of embroidering?

• How did they react?
• How did you feel?
• Have you given them your embroidery virus?
• Do they still embroider today?

Definition of an Embroidery Beginner

I found these definitions on the internet about embroiderers:

"Woman realising patterns on a fabric with thread and needle, embroidery."
"Worker, stitcher doing embroidery work."

For me, a beginner in embroidery is someone creative and interested and she's rather brave! It's a long embroidery journey with quite distinct stages of evolution, which I'll share with you all along this series of articles.

She is someone who is eager to learn and use her hands to create art with a needle.
She's someone who is lucky to be able to access the soothing and meditative virtues of embroidery.

We must encourage our children and grand children to stitch!

Champignons, Ecureuils ou Feuilles qui tombent....

Bonjour les Amies!

Est ce que vous aimez cette chaleur?..C'est l'été après tout mais 38 le jour et 33 la nuit ça use n'est ce pas?!
En plus je n'ai pas besoin de vous expliquer que travailler dans la chaleur n'est pas du tout facile!

Depuis mon dernier article, ma soeur et sa famille sont arrivés, pour 5 semaines de vacances! Pas du tout évident pour moi de pouvoir travailler avec toutes les distractions que cela entraine..donc je fais le minimum et je profite de la plage et ma famille..j'aurais le temps de me rattraper plus tard...

Concours Tambour

Dans le dernier article j'ai lancé un appel à l'aide pour trouver des thèmes pour mes deux prochaines créations. Vous n'étiez pas beaucoup a y participer, mais celles qui l'ont fait ont donné des réponses très intéressantes et diverses!

Tambour Automne

Il y avait pas mal de propositions en commun, parmi lesquelles Champignons, Ecureuils, Châtaignes et Feuilles..
J'ai longuement réfléchi et je pense que les feuilles seront très jolies, brodées au blackwork avec les magnifiques couleurs automnales..

Tambour Hivernal

Pour l'hiver j'ai tout de suite su que ç'allait être les sapins! Une intuition en moi que c'était le bon thème.

Gagnantes

Le prénom de toutes celles qui avaient proposé soit les Feuilles soit les Sapins (à vrai dire tout le monde !!) ont été mis dans un bol, et c'est Maisy, ma nièce qui a tiré au sort les gagnantes..une pour chaque saison...

Mushrooms, Squirrels or Falling Leaves...

Hello friends!


Do you like this heat? .. It's summer after all, but 38 degrees during the day and 33 at night takes it's toll doesn't it?!

In addition I don't need to explain that working in the heat isn't easy at all!

Since my last article, my sister and her family have arrived for 5 weeks holidays! Not at all obvious for me to be able to work with all the distractions that that entails..so I do the minimum and I enjoy the beach and my family..I'll have time to catch up later ...


Hoop Competition

In my last article I made a cry for help to find themes for my next two creations. Not many of you participated, but those that did gave me some very interesting and varied answers!


Autumn Hoop

There were a lot of proposals in common, among which Mushrooms, Squirrels, Chestnuts and Leaves seemed popular

I had a long think and I believe that leaves will be very pretty, embroidered with blackwork using beautiful autumnal colours ..

Winter Hoop

For the winter theme, I immediately knew that it was going to be fir trees! An internal intuition in me that it was the good one!

The name of all those who had proposed either the leaves or the fir trees (well everyone really!!) were put in a bowl, and Maisy, my niece drew the winners .. one for each hoop ...

J'ai besoin de votre aide + Concours!

Incroyable n'est ce pas..que nous sommes déjà le 21 juillet..le temps défile tellement vite! J'espère que vous passez un agréable moment estivale, ou au moins à profiter de la chaleur de l'été??

Je suis toujours à fond dans mes préparatifs pour le salon The Handmade Show en Angleterre, en septembre..d'ailleurs j'aurai des billets d'entrée gratuits bientôt à offrir..si jamais cela vous intéresse?!

En ce moment j'ai les mains constamment dans mes gants latex et le masque sur le nez et la bouche..ce n'est pas top pendant les chaleurs de l'été.. (+ des bouffées de chaleurs de la menopause!) Mais c'est obligatoire pour teindre le stock de toiles et fils nécessaire pour ce salon!..en même temps j'adore ce que je fais donc....

I need your help + Competition

Hello Hello!

It's incredible isn't it ..that we're already July 21st..time flies so fast! I hope you're enjoying a pleasant summer holiday, or at least enjoying the warmth??

I'm still frantically preparing for The Handmade Show in England, in September .. By the way I'll have free admission tickets soon to give away.. so if you're interested stay posted?!

At the moment I have my hands constantly in my latex gloves and a mask over my nose and mouth..this isn't great during the summer heat .. (+ hot flashes due to menopause!) But it's essential  to dye the stock of stitching fabrics and threads needed for this show! ..on the other hand I love what I do so ....

So as the title of this article says..I need your help! A few weeks back, I launched a contest to find the titles of my two new blackwork hoop designs ... do you remember?

Dragonfly Waltz & Under the Sea

It was Roseline, Can Poi and Tortue who won the draw (by the way, the charts will soon be ready!)

This time I need your theme ideas for the rest of the designs in this set. I have to create the hoops for Autumn (on a pastel orange dyed lurex brittney fabric) and Winter (on white brittney lurex) and that's where I'm stuck ... I have a few ideas, but I thought that it might be fun to ask you to give me yours!

Definition de la Couleur par Matisse

Bonjour!

Comment allez-vous aujourd'hui? Nous sommes déjà dans la deuxième semaine de juillet! Le temps passe trop vite!
Sur quoi travaillez-vous en ce moment? Es-tu en vacances? Ou encore au travail? Avez-vous plus de temps pour broder? Laissez-moi savoir ci-dessous.

Cette semaine, je suis tombée sur cette citation d'Henri Matisse (peintre fauviste), et j'ai trouvé que cela résonnait vraiment en moi. Regardez la citation et dites-moi ce que vous en pensez?

Avec mon travail quotidien, que ce soit la conception, la broderie, la teinture de toiles ou de fils, je suis stimulée par les couleurs. J'ai remarqué que cela peut changer mon humeur et me remonter le moral, ou me donner de l'énergie quand j'ai besoin d'un coup de pouce! Avez-vous déjà remarqué cela? Si ce n'est pas le cas, essayez de voir ce que vous ressentez en utilisant différentes couleurs.

Definition of Colour by Matisse

Hi there!

How are you today? We're already into the second week of July! Time flies so fast! 
What are you working on at the moment? Are you on holiday? Or still at work? Do you have more time to stitch? Please let me know below.

This week I came across this quotation from Henri Matisse (French Fauvism painter), and found that it really resonated in me. Colour is as powerful as this. Have a look at tell me what you think?

With my everyday work, whether it be designing, stitching, dyeing fabric or threads, I get energised through the colours. I've noticed that it can change my mood and cheer me up, or give me energy when I need a boost! Have you ever noticed this? If not give it a go and see what you feel through using different colours.
