We make progress ..and then land on Mar(ch)

Hi there!

Today is our daughter's 18th birthday..this first week of March is packed full of things to organise.
It takes my mind off the fact that 18 years have flown by and that my little Lily has grown into an amazing woman and a good friend! Don't blink!

This Week

This week I wanted to show you some photos from our 365 Temperature SAL, and show you the poster of my next show. I'd love to meet you at this show!

I chose the theme of the Tree of Life ... a guided and important choice for our well-being in 2019. This model represents much more than just cross stitch and stitching.  I'm pushing the concept a little further and combining your daily embroidery with your well-being, your positive mindset and letting go.

There are stitchers from France, Canada, the UK, USA and Australia and i'm forgetting some I'm sure! What a great opportunity to make stitching friends all over the world and share this communal project.

There are ladies who haven't even started to stitch, but they're noting the daily temperatures. There are ladies who've just started to stitch a few leaves, but they're getting there , step by step. Some ladies are up to date with their leaves and some who've finished stitching all the branches.

The important thing to aim for in this SAL is to have fun! To make time for yourself and do yourself good whilst you stitch! There aren't any strict rules or parts to stitch per week.

Tree of Life

Why choose a Tree of Life?

The tree of life is represented since the start of time and some say that this tree has existed since the beginning of history itself. It symbolises strength and rootedness, our connection with the earth, our family, our environment and the universe itself. The tree of Life is recognised symbolically in many diverse cultures, like the Celts, Chinese, Eygyptians, Assyrians..and many more

This tree represents the progression of life and of our way of living it, and all the opposing forces that make life the way it is: night and day, sun and moon, shade and light, good and evil, energy and magnetism...

The tree of life makes us think about how we live our lives, how we behave towards others, and especially ourselves, in order to find fulfilment. A balance to be found between our past, the present and the future. This makes us examine and question our interaction with others, our planet and the entire universe.

By losing its leaves and growing new ones, we can understand symbolically that life is a perpetual evolution, that nothing is permanent and that we can all renew ourselves, evolve and undertake new ways to better our lives.

February Photos

Here are the lovely photos of some of the stitchers who're up to date in the SAL

If these photos have wetted your appetite to stitch and you're tempted to join us for the 365 Temperature 365 Tree of Life SAL you still can!? One leaf per day to cross-stitch, colour depending on the temperature outside. At the end of the year you'll have embroidered a tree of life unique to you, made stitching friends all over the world, all that whilst doing yourself good!
