How Cross Stitch can Save your Life - Part One

Hello to you!

Wow February 20th and most of this month has already passed! What have you been stitching so far this month? Do you have any pretty finishes to show me?
This week I'm going to be sharing part one of an E book that I've created called How Cross Stitch can Save Your Life. An easy to read guide detailing 10 ways in which Cross Stitch is  helping you stay healthy and prolonging your life?
You'll also be able to get the download free if you'd like to find out more after reading today's article.

How Having a Creative Hobby can literally save your life.

You can't have missed it in the news, magazines and specialist papers
Studies have shown that creative occupations such as knitting, crochet and cross stitching are therapeutic and can help you overcome stress and ease all sorts of ailments.

Here is a mini guide selection of ways that cross stitching can impact your health positively and help reduce your medication costs.
  • 1. Cross Stitch and Embroidery helps you break up your daily routine

After a stressful day at work, the only thing you feel like doing is taking a bath, having something to eat and then sitting down in front of Netflix with your cross stitching right?
This is because when you stitch you can empty your mind and forget about your stressful day and relax at last! You take your mind off what is bothering you and just LET GO.

  • 2. Cross Stitch and Embroidery reduces stress and anxiety and has a positive effect on high blood pressure.

High blood pressure occurs when your stress levels and cortisol rise. Cortisol is a stress hormone which the adrenal glands release in order to protect your body and brain from stress.
When your body produces too much Cortisol you will have a tendency to gain weight (your blood sugar level rises and stocks more of the fat that you eat than usual); it will negatively impact your mood; raise your blood pressure, give you brain fog and can even contribute to diabetes and osteoporosis.

  • 3. Cross Stitch and Embroidery relieves chronic pain and inflammation

When you stitch you use repetitive movements to create your stitches over and over again in order to create your design. These movements activate the parasympathetic nervous system which quietens the natural fight or flight response that all human's have. You let go and relax.

Once you feel relaxed your brain secretes several amazing chemicals. Such as Dopamine, which is a natural anti depressant; Oxcytocin, which increases your empathy towards others; Serotonine, which is commonly known as the “good mood” chemical and Endorphines which are your natural advil like chemicals because they mask pain and discomfort.

The combination of these 4 neurotransmitter chemicals help you feel relaxed, stress free and happy. Any chronic pains or inflammation diminish!

This is one of the amazing things that I discovered about cross stitching and that makes stitching a wonder drug for me and so many others!
