Interview with...Adeline Cras from Creades

Hello to you my stitching friend!
Another week spent in your company has passed, and the month of September is well under way. We've had some hot days at the beach and the following with rain, in sweatshirts and socks! What's the weather like with you?
Today you're going to discover Adeline,  Creations CRéAdeS,  who is going to reveal some of her little secrets about her creative embroidery company and you'll learn a few about her too! She'll also share her new designs with us that are colourful with evocative names like Blue Lagoon, Tequila Sunrise, and the very latest ... Spritz (which I particularly like ... and you will discover why!

Who is hiding behind the CRéAdeS company?

This is Adeline Cras. She's from Auxerre in Burgundy but has lived most of her life in Brittany. She is a bubbly warm and friendly designer and she always has a smile to greet you on her stands all over France.

She designs modern colourful cross stitch and bead designs and you can recognise her designs from far off!

Here is an interview I did with her!

Adeline de CRéAdeS

Can you briefly introduce your creative company?

CRéAdeS,is the name of my embroidery company. It stands for: Créations Ade(line) CRAS.
I'm an embroidery designer and I create designs mostly for counted cross stitch, and bead work more recently.
I also create hand-painted, washable threads.

When did you learn to stitch, knit, crochet, patch etc?

I learnt to stitch at a very young age with my grandmother and my mother, around 6 years old.  then
Knitting and crochet at 8, and patchwork in my  own way by assembling the remains of
fabrics of the dresses and clothes that my mum made for haute couture.

I made wacky skirts that were completely out of time compared to the fashion that was going on at that time!
but I didn't care about it .... I was a bit crazy crazy but I was happy!

How did you start designing?

I always dreamt that one day I'd have my own "company"
After the birth of my fourth child, it was out of the question to return
to work. I took parental leave to take care of my children full time and
I looked for what I could do well ... One day I went into a haberdashery shop and I discovered
that there was something else than DMC kits, and big brands, and I thought
why not …. that same evening when I got home I told everyone I was going
to become an embroidery designer and I found the name CréAdeS.
At 6 o'clock the next morning I drew my first design and I havent looked back since ...

Do you have any specialities?

I like to design patterns about my region, Brittany and I also specialise in hand painted threads.
