Hello!
As some of you that follow me on Instagram might have seen on Tuesday.. I shared a progress picture of where we are in the 2020 Tree of Love Temperature SAL and I realised that we’re in week 42/52... which means that there are only 10 weeks left till the end of this very particular and peculiar year!

This week, I'm going to share the third and last  part of a booklet I created entitled How Cross Stitch Can Save Your Life. An easy to read guide detailing 10 ways cross stitch helps you stay healthy and help to extend your life!

If you haven't read the first three points, here's the link to the article I shared them in: https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/715808502539245920/7734351649048176360

And here is the link for points 4 to 6

You can also get the download for free if you want to know more after reading today's article.

Fact 7 - Cross Stitch and Embroidery activate parts of your brain similar to those during meditation.

Stitching and crafts in general have been likened to doing yoga and meditation. How do you feel when you come out of a yoga class? In general you feel lighter and calm. You feel at peace and one with yourself right? Well cross stitch and embroidery stimulates and affects the same part of the brain as yoga and meditation! So when you don't have time to go to yoga make time for a session of cross stitch..and imagine when you manage to do both! You'll get double the benefits!

Fact 8 - Cross Stitch and Embroidery helps you find solutions to your internal conflicts

As mentioned in the point above, stitching has been compared to meditation and yoga and shares similar effects on the brain. Similar to when you empty your mind during a meditation and let go of your consciousness, you allow yourself to open up and receive ideas and solutions to your questions and problems. It's a bit like when you dream at night and your questions are resolved during your highly relaxed state. It's the same thing when you stitch! You let your mind wander and forget about the negative things that are bothering you. When you relax you become open and can think about all sorts of solutions and pick the best one for your situation. Give it a go!

Fact 9 - Cross Stitch and Embroidery help you to increase your creativity and confidence

How do you feel when you've finished a cross stitch project? Maybe slightly relieved depending on the size of the design, but more than likely you feel pleased, good and creative. When you show your stitching work to a friend or member of your family you feel proud, and your very right to do so! When you stitch it boosts your self esteem and creative thinking. You get a positive sense of achievement which makes you feel happy. You gain in confidence. This boosts your morale and encourages you to evolve and face life front on. Your positive mood makes you feel good and rubs off on the people around you.

Fact 10 - Cross Stitch and Embroidery help you to become more observant and open to daily gratitude

When you have pleasure stitching beautiful things you train your eye to notice the beauty that surrounds you. You see things differently than before. Nature amazes you with it's beautiful range of colours and insects. You develop an eye for beauty and you become grateful for these things. The art of daily gratitude is a very powerful tool to make part of your daily routine. It's inspiring and helps you feel thankful and content for what you already have in your life, rather than searching for 'better' things that you don't have.

So how do you feel about cross stitching and embroidery after reading these 10 facts about your favourite hobby? Did you realise how precious the fact that you stitch is looking after your body, mind and health in general? Now that you know these amazing facts, please make time in your day to stitch everyday.
