July Pack Photos + August Pack Contest

Hi There!

Its time to reveal the July pack photos, as most of the packs have arrived at their destinations...some further afield haven't yet, but won't be long now!

I loved making this pack (like all the others!) and felt that the colour scheme really relays the month of July well, with 4th July celebrations in America and 14th July ones here in France! It's a mix of red, white and blue threads that really represent the summer (seaside and sea) and celebrations for me. The 10th thread is an exclusive thread just for my subscribers!

They were so nice to dye and got me thinking about my double English and French heritage and how history has had such an impact on each nations fate, and the fireworks that we watch to celebrate so that's why I've called the July pack FESTIVE! I hope they get you thinking too and bring you much pleasure and well being as you stitch!

August Pack Contest

I thought that it would be fun to run a new contest for the August pack as I haven't done this in a while. For any new subscriptions from today onwards, you have the chance to win a free pack! You can subscribe to monthly recurring payments or gift 3,6, or 12 month subscriptions too.

So if you'd like to buy yourself this lovely subscription, ask someone to gift it to you or even buy it for someone else here is the link to follow to find out all the information that you need:

Good luck in the contest! I'll announce the winner next week :)

Delivery Information

Orders for the August Pack opens today, 22nd July and will close on the 31st July at midnight. Any orders received after midnight on the 31st July will receive the September pack.

I do have a few packs left over and the first orders received and those after the 31st will qualify for any left over July packs. Please let me know if you'd like to start which pack you'd like to start with?

If you choose the monthly subscription you won't have to order again as you'll receive your pack every month after I receive your automatic recurring payment through Paypal. If you no longer wish to receive your subscription you can simply cancel the recurring payments in Paypal, or send me a message and I can do it for you.

If you don't have a Paypal account but would still like to buy the monthly version of  the subscription please contact me and I can set this up for you.

I will be hand dyeing the threads to order and need a week to 10 days to do this. You will receive your subscription from the 15th of the month onwards. This delay depends on where you live of course and of the current postal situation!

I hope that you've enjoyed the photos of the FESTIVE thread pack? I would love to know what you think of these July colours! If you have any comments or questions please write them in the comments below or send me them via messenger or mail: tometlily@hotmail.com.

I hope to have you on board for this latest adventure and look forward to sending out your beautiful threads every month!

Have a great week full of sun, stitching and colour!

I'm Seeing Red....

Hello!

Today I'm seeing red everywhere! Don't worry I'm not angry .. on the contrary! .. but red tends to make us think of powerful emotions doesn't it?

I'll introduce you to the symbolism of this colour, and all the colours in other articles to follow..but for the moment let me begin with the warmest colour of the spectrum..Red

Symbolism

Red is associated with the first chakra, that of the root. The one at the base of the spine that represents grounding and strength.

It also reflects energy and positivity, passion, life, vitality and reproduction, and also courage ... all this when this chakra is in balance of course ..

When you want to add some power, or give an impression of confidence and dynamism, you wear red or a bright red lipstick right? ...

On the contrary, when there is an imbalance, red symbolises anger, danger, aggression and violence. We just have to look at the colour of a toreador's cloak, for example, the colour of road signs to be respected on the road, or the color of a poisonous and dangerous insect ... They're all red!

See also the symbolism of blood red on Poppy Day in England, November 11..each poppy representing the blood lost in the field, for home and country during the wars.

Red and Embroidery

I think that it's safe to say that red is THE favorite colour of embroiderers. It remains a classic color in embroidery ... a tradition that comes from the 18th century, where women marked their linen, with a thread and their initials, to recognise their sheets and nightgowns on laundry days at the river or at the laundry.

Also young girls learned the alphabet and numbers, embroidering their sampler, with a red coloured thread named Rouge du Rhin ... so named after its region of origin - the Alsace region. These samplers have become collector items nowadays and are often proudly displayed by the descendants of these little embroiderers.

The DMC colour that corresponds to this red thread is No. 321..or the Rouge A from Le Fil Atalie range ?!

How about you?

  • Do you like red?
  • Do you prefer to stitch with  red threads?
  • When you see red, what and how do you feel?
  • When you wear red, how do you feel?

Thank you for reading to the end .. and for your answers to my questions in the article. Please leave them in the comments below.
If you liked my article please don't hesitate to share it with your friends and on social media!

Happy Stitching!
